Edmonton Oilers lose Leon Draisaitl with another disastrous injury
The Edmonton Oilers are already dealing with a multitude of injuries, and now have lost their superstar Leon Draisaitl with yet another injury.
Draisaitl had just come back after missing 4 games with another injury sustained against the Utah Hockey Club. He was back to playing at an MVP pace before this injury.
Edmonton Oilers lose Leon Draisaitl to get another injury
In the second period of tonight's Oilers game against the San Jose Sharks, Draisaitl left limping down the tunnel after a series of uncomfortable plays.
Numerous times before Draisaitl left, he took some awkward falls and seemed to be playing through some clear pain on the ice.
There was some concern when Draisaitl was returning earlier than expected from his injury that there could be a risk of re-aggravating a problem. Hopefully that isn't the case.
When Draisaitl came back from injury, he immediately was back to being the most dominant player on the ice with his efforts against the Calgary Flames and Vegas Golden Knights.
It's incredibly unfortunate to lose Draisaitl again, for the Oilers chances of winning games and for his chances of an MVP season. For the short term, it's a disastrous situation for the Oilers - now missing McDavid, Draisaitl, Ekholm,
Stuart Skinner, Frederic with injury.
The Oilers next game against the Los Angeles Kings may be the biggest game of the season so far to help secure home ice advantage in the playoffs. It's the kind of game you'd like Leon Draisaitl on your team for.
Hopefully the Oilers are able to provide more information on Draisaitl's injury tomorrow, and he can have time to fully rest and get healthy before the playoffs - although it may cost him a Hart Trophy.
