He came highly touted as a future superstar winger, and although he is now 26 years old, he has spent his entire career with the New York Islanders. Across 420 games, he has scored 105 goals and tallied 257 assists, accumulating a total of 362 points. He maintains a +4 rating and has amassed 214 penalty minutes.
While he has only crossed the 80-point threshold once in his career, typically ranging between 50 and 65 points per season, watching Barzal in action is always entertaining. However, there are clear expectations that he must elevate his performance, especially considering the substantial salary he is earning.
This upcoming season marks the first under his contract extension, an 8-year, $73.2 million deal, resulting in a cap hit of $9.15 million, which he signed.
