NHL defenseman Tyson Barrie has announced his retirement today following 15-years with five different teams, including three with the Edmonton Oilers.

In addition to his NHL career, Tyson Barrie has won 3 medals for Team Canada during international competition
Tyson's first medal was a Silver at the 2011 World Juniors; then at the 2015 World Championships, he won a Gold; and finally in 2017, he earned a Silver Medal at the World Championship.
Over his career, the offensive-minded defenseman scored 11G and 398A (508 points) in 822 games.
With the Oilers, Tyson recorded 132 points in 190 games played, playing 3-seasons, from 2020-21 to 2022-23.
Barrie was drafted 64th overall in 2009 by Colorado and made his NHL debut in 2011-12. He quickly built a reputation as a power-play specialist, especially during his time with the Oilers, where he led the NHL's top-ranked power-play unit in 2021, according to SN.
In Edmonton, Barrie played on the top power-play unit, together with Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid - the league's two leading scorers in the shortened goals during 2021 season - he finished the season with his career-best, scoring 48 points in a shortened 56-game schedule.
Tyson Barrie retires having scored 40-plus points in 7 campaigns, and 30-plus assists in 9 campaigns, a testament to his offensive skills and nose for the net. He scored 10-plus goals in 6 times.
As a junior, Tyson Barrie was selected to the Canadian Major Junior All-Star team in 2008, and the WHL 1st All-Star team twice, is 2010, and 2011.
On behalf of Oilers Daily, I'd like to wish Tyson Barrie all the best in his future endeavours.
