The Edmonton Oilers have ruled out Zach Hyman from his initial return date of November 1st, and updated his status to week-to-week.
Just yesterday Oilers insiders had reported that Hyman was moving exceptionally well in practice, and could be on track to return on November 1st. He may be close, but his return isn't imminent.
Edmonton Oilers rule out Zach Hyman with injury, with week to week timeline
According to reports from Oilers insiders at practice, Coach Knoblauch revealed that Hyman will miss at least another week while recovering from his injury.
The earliest Hyman could return is now listed as November 7th, but it will be evaluated further as that date approaches.
It's a bit disappointing that Hyman's return has been delayed further, after it was already a surprise he'd miss time to begin the regular season.
Hyman is still recovering from a complex wrist surgery after an injury he sustained against the Dallas Stars last playoffs.
When Hyman does return, the Oilers will be forced into a slight roster crunch that may seem them ship out a few players. Hyman's injury delay will also put a temporary hold on those decisions.
However, the Oilers will be hoping that Hyman can just make his return as soon as possible, and get back to helping the offence.
