When Vincent Desharnais broke out into the NHL earlier this month, the Oilers had high hopes for his defensive abilities and to help their depleted defense corps. so far, his game has been improving and showing that he deserves to stay with the parent club for a longer stretch.
Head coach Jay Woodcroft was discussing several matters with the media, one fun fact came about Desharnais nickname that was given during his time with the AHL Charlotte Condors.
Desharnais has quite a large frame standing at 6 foot six and carrying 215 pounds. The 26-year-old Laval QC native has played six games, has three assists, and is a +5. Having been called the seaweed man certainly makes sense given his rather large size.
They will also be looking at the March 3rd trade deadline to see if they can bolster their lineup, especially on defense as they continue their quest to make the postseason.
The Oilers' next meeting will be against the Columbus Blue Jackets on January 25th. Game time starts at 9:30 PM
