Oilers Veteran Calls on McDavid and Draisaitl to be better defensively
After the Edmonton Oilers gave up 5 consecutive goals last night to lose to the Vancouver Canucks, the team was no where close to happy after the game. McDavid and Zach Hyman both shared some strong opinions, but now it appears veteran forward Derek Ryan has stepped forward with some more comments, and they are directed towards the Oilers' forward group.
I saw the same thing as you. I don't think scoring goals is the problem here. I've said that a million times. We've got to work on playing defence, and that's not the defencemen, that's the forwards, everybody
By the sounds of what Ryan said it seems as if he is hinting towards McDavid and Draisaitl both, as offence is not an issue for either, but defending has been as of late.
Many believe it has to start with 97 and 29 on the back end contributing to defense more, but they can't do it all... right?
