Making an Argument For The Edmonton Oilers Most Underrated MVP: Stuart Skinner?

Jack Campbell may have fallen from grace after the move from Toronto as he no longer shows the promise, from the 2021-2022 post-season where he kept the Maple Leafs in the series versus Tampa Bay.

But Stuart Skinner has been here as a reliable option all along, after last year he showed glimpses of what he could be.

To say that Stuart Skinner is the under-the-radar MVP isn't a ridiculous notion, as he's had his best season after slotting in after Mike Smith went on LTIR during the post-season.

Skinner's had better outings lately, as evidenced by his win over the Buffalo Sabres, stopping 37 or 39. He's currently 18-13-4 for the year keeping a .913 SV%.

«Absolutely,» Skinner said when asked if he feels his confidence and his game growing as his first full season in the NHL unfolds. «I think being able to learn from a lot of the mistakes and from the good things that I've been able to do on and off the ice.
«Being able to grow as a teammate, as a player, and just kind of learning how the NHL kind of works and being able to try your best to do well, it's been a massive learning curve and I've been having a lot of fun with it.»

About Stuart Skinner

With Skinner giving the Oilers the best chance to win as a team, it'll be smart for Woodcroft to keep Skinner in the net against the NHL's best team, the Boston Bruins.

Compared to Campbell, Skinner's last 5 wins came with giving no up more than two against some pretty high-powered teams in Buffalo and Toronto. It's safe to say, he owns the crease and the MVP title in my opinion.
