The Edmonton Oilers may be entering the playoffs after their worst stretch of the season, and now Sportsnet analysts are forgetting what a talented team they truly are.

Top NHL analysts have already picked the Los Angeles Kings as this year's playoff favourite in the first round with a 50.2% chance of winning, a shocking difference for an Oilers team that wanted to win it all.

Only one Sportsnet analyst picks Edmonton Oilers to win Stanley Cup

Sportsnet has released their annual compilation of playoff picks and Stanley Cup picks. At least in the first round, a major of analysts have the Oilers on top - but in a very close series.
David Amber: Oilers in 7
Nick Kypreos: Kings in 7
Justin Bourne: Oilers in 6
Luke Fox: Kings in 7
Eric Engels: Kings in 7
Alex Adams: Oilers in 7
Ryan Dixon: Oilers in 7
Matt Marchese: Oilers in 7
Mike Futa: Oilers in 6
Jason Bukala: Oilers in 6
Mark Spector: Oilers in 7
Eric Francis: Kings in 6
Iain MacIntyre: Kings in 6
Anna Dua: Kings in 7
Jacob Stoller: Kings in 6
Sonny Sachdeva: Oilers in 6
Sam Cosentino: Oilers in 7
Rory Boylen: Kings in 6

However, where the real surprise comes from is the fact that only one analyst has picked the Oilers to win the Stanley Cup this season. The overwhelming favourites are the Vegas Golden Knights and Colorado Avalanche - with only Sam Cosentino picking Edmonton.
David Amber: Vegas Golden Knights
Nick Kypreos: Florida Panthers
Justin Bourne: Tampa Bay Lightning
Luke Fox: Vegas Golden Knights
Eric Engels: Colorado Avalanche
Alex Adams: Colorado Avalanche
Ryan Dixon: Colorado Avalanche
Matt Marchese: Colorado Avalanche
Mike Futa: Winnipeg Jets
Jason Bukala: Winnipeg Jets
Mark Spector: Vegas Golden Knights
Eric Francis: Vegas Golden Knights
Iain MacIntyre: Vegas Golden Knights
Anna Dua: Toronto Maple Leafs
Jacob Stoller: Tampa Bay Lightning
Sonny Sachdeva: Tampa Bay Lightning
Sam Cosentino: Edmonton Oilers
Rory Boylen: Dallas Stars

What most analysts are missing about the Edmonton Oilers right now is that the last two months of their season have easily been their worst - and they've never yet iced their fully healthy roster.
When Evander Kane, Trent Frederic, Zach Hyman, and Jake Walman all return to play, the Oilers will immediately be a much deeper team.
Not only that, but Connor McDavid has been on an absolute tear since his return from injury, and has actually stressed he's feeling better now than in the past few months.
The Oilers are about to get a major boost to their lineup with players returning from injury, and their superstars will find another year in the playoffs like they always do. They're more motivated than ever to win it all, and when they begin clicking in the playoffs, these analysts may regret their picks.
