Former New York Rangers legendary goaltender Henrik Lundqvist gave Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner a far lower grade as he revealed the top 8 during his Hankings segment for the NHL playoffs.
He explained to the TNT panel that he takes several parts and consideration on how the goalie finishes their season, where they finished, and he ranked Skinner as #8 in the West.
Skinner's season has been another roller coaster for Oilers
The 26-year-old netminder has seen his numbers decline when it comes to goals against average and save percentage over the past several years.
This season, he played 51 games owning a record of 26-18-4 with the goals against of 2.81 and a save percentage of .896 which many feel is a number that's not helpful for a team to go on a long run do the Stanley Cup finals.
Question marks were circling around the goaltending of the Oilers especially near the NHL trade deadline as many felt the Oilers should have gone out and traded for additional help whether to replace Skinner or to work in tandem.
The Oilers have one more season with their tandem of Pickard and Skinner before both players become unrestricted free agents in 2026.
