The Edmonton Oilers are entering this year's playoffs with a multitude of players injured, and now Coach Knoblauch has updated the condition of four more players.
Edmonton Oilers expect four injured players to make return in Kings series
According to a new update from Oilers reporter Daniel Nugent-Bowman, Coach Knoblauch is expecting to get John Klingberg back as an option in Game 1, but will miss Troy Stecher for the first few games of the series.
In addition, Evander Kane seems to be closer to being officially cleared for a Game 1 return. Kane himself has posted on Instagram, seeming to hint that he could be making his return.
Trent Frederic is still only hopeful to be an option for Game 1. By that language there should be hope that he could return later in the series, but Frederic's seemingly been «2 weeks away»
Interestingly, Coach Knoblauch wouldn't commit to his starting goaltender - but it's clearly going to be Stuart Skinner in the net. What may be different this season though is the amount of leeway they allow Skinner before swapping him out for Calvin Pickard.
Oilers health is significant question heading into the playoffs
In addition to these four injured players, Leon Draisaitl, Zach Hyman, and Jake Walman will be making their returns from injury for Game 1 of the playoffs.
There's a fair concern that the Oilers are playing through injury, and could be up against the odds to make another long playoff push. They will be seeing a slew of key players returning, and will have to get back up to speed right away.
It's great news that the Oilers will get their players back - they'll need every depth player to chip in to put up another long run in the playoffs.
