According to hockey writer and analyst Brian Swayne, of all the rookies attending Oilers' rookie camp this year, Rhett Pitlick may just be the most interesting winger there.

Edmonton's rookie camp began on Wednesday and continues through to September 15, and though the majority of players attending were either drafted, or acquired through trade, eight have been invited.

Prospect oldest player and older brother in Oilers' rookie-camp

Twenty-four year old Rhett Pitlcik is one of the invitees and is the oldest of this year's group. It is true that most rookie-camp invitees don't make the NHL roster, yet Rhett so impressed in his limited stint with Bakersfield, that he was signed to a two-year contract.
Pitlick was originally drafted by Montreal 131st overall in 2010, but was never signed by the Habs, which means he did not attend any training camps either. Now, going into his first rookie-camp with the Oilers, he is motivated to show he belongs as a professional.
Over the last four seasons, Pitlick spent three (2021-22 - 2023-24) with the University of Minnesota Athletics in the NCAA, then transferred to Minnesota State U for the 2024-25 season, his senior, and final year.
Over 148 NCAA games, Rhett Pitlick scored 119 points.
Rhett Pitlick closed-out his college-career being named Central Collegiate Hockey Association Forward of the Year, and helped Minnesota State capture the CCHA title, good enough to secure himself an amateur try-out with the Condors back on April 8.
In six games with Bakersfield, Pitlick recorded 6A, a plus-8, and 12 shots on goal.
Coincidentally, Rhett is the older brother of Rem, who also signed a deal with Bakersfield for one-year, and on the exact same day as his brother: June 25, 2025. It's a day the two brothers will likely not forget.
Yet, the family tree has another Oilers' branch. Tyler Pitlick is cousins with Rhett and Rem, and was actually drafted by Edmonton in 2010, 31st overall.
Next season will mark the first time that the brothers will have played for the same team. Hopefully, it won't be the last.
