Oilers may admit major mistake and scratch trade deadline acquisition in playoffs

The Edmonton Oilers' first trade deadline move of the season was to acquire Trent Frederic from the Boston Bruins, but he may soon find himself scratched in the playoffs.
Trent Frederic may be scratched for healthier forward option
Frederic? Now that
Evander Kane is back (skating well, hitting, forechecking aggressively, you have to give him time to get his hands back) perhaps we'll see a healthier player join the playing roster over Frederic for Game 3.
- Allan Mitchell
In his first two full games as an Oiler, Frederic is clearly struggling to get up to speed. His skating appears limited at times, and the style of play isn't as intense as it should be for a bottom six energy player.
If he can't show that he's got more, Knoblauch will have to consider inserting a player like Kapanen instead.
Trent Frederic deal appears to be total failure for Edmonton Oilers
If Frederic is removed from the playoff lineup, this trade will appear to be a total failure.
Sure, Frederic could re-sign with the Oilers in the offseason - but he simply appears to be too injured to help the Oilers at the moment. What's worse is that reports of his injury being this serious were already known prior to the trade.
The Oilers spent a ton acquiring a heavily injured Trent Frederic, when they could've instead put those resources towards a goalie. Maybe he can get back to his best game, but for now, it looks like poorly used resources.
