The Edmonton Oilers announced a new contract for Vasily Podkolzin today, and the team had a moment to celebrate at practice.
Podkolzin has been re-signed to a 3 year contract at an annual cap hit of $2.95M. The Oilers are hoping the 24 year old forward can take another step forward with his game, but it's clear his teammates already love him.

Podkolzin has quickly become a popular player among the fanbase, and with the organization as well. He's often seen coming to the rink early for practice, and always putting in extra work to improve. His teammates and coaching staff clearly appreciate him.
If the young Russian forward can take an offensive step forward on his next contract, it could become a steal of a deal for the Oilers. Fans in Edmonton will now be fully rooting for Podkolzin this season.
