The Edmonton Oilers will see a few injured players make their return to the lineup very soon, which will force some tough roster cuts.

Oilers forward Zach Hyman was originally slated to make his return for tonight's game, but his timeline has been delayed as he's still recovering from last playoff's wrist injury. However, he still is close to a return.

Multiple injured Oilers joining as regular participants in practice, close to a return

According to reporters at practice, Zach Hyman and Alec Regula were skating as extras, but ramping up towards full participation.
Additionally, the Oilers held an optional skate yesterday which was also attended by Hyman and Regula. Mattias Janmark was also skating, and initially ruled out with a minor injury, he could be nearing a return too.
The one Oilers forward who may be out for a while with injury is Kasperi Kapanen. After going hard into the boards, he's been ruled out indefinitely.

Tough roster choices incoming as injured Oilers rejoin the roster

As Hyman and Regula make their returns to the lineup, the Oilers will be forced to cut some extra players.
David Tomasek is currently a healthy scratch in favour of Ike Howard and Curtis Lazar, while Ty Emberson appears to be sticking in the lineup over Troy Stecher. Eventually, the Oilers may have to trade or demote a few of these players.
Hopefully Edmonton makes the right decisions to shape their lineup once fully healthy, and can retain some of the impressive NHL depth they've racked up.
