Heartbreaking news has broken that Mark Scheifele's father has passed away this morning, the day of a critical Game 6 for the Jets.

It's absolutely devastating news for Scheifele to suffer such a close personal loss. Mark's father, Brad Scheifele, passed away unexpectedly last night. Jets GM Kevin Chevaldayoff made a statement for the team.
We have some sad news to share here today. Unfortunately, Mark Scheifele's father passed away through the night. As an organization we're doing everything we can to support him and give his family our most sincere condolences, and obviously ask that everyone respect his and their privacy at this time.

Mark Scheifele undecided on playing tonight in Jets Game 6

It's a horrible tragedy for Scheifele to lose his father, and really, even worse before one of the biggest games of his career.
According to reporters, Scheifele is undecided on playing tonight. Rightfully though, that's not a concern for the team right now.
Head coach Scott Arnold has gone to console Scheifele in his Dallas hotel room. To suffer this loss on the road too, away from home, must be incredibly tough on Scheifele.
Jets teammates came out to speak in support of Scheifele, and offering their condolences.
Scheifele is obviously a key player for the Jets success, and has been a great playoff performer as well. In 10 playoff games, he has 4 goals and 10 points.
In such a heartbreaking situation, it's completely understandable if Scheifele doesn't play tonight. If he doesn't though, it will be a heavily emotional moment.
