Leon Draisaitl delivers direct message to Connor McDavid on contract talks

The very public and on-going contract extension-saga continues in earnest, as Connor McDavid contemplates what his next step is. Now, Leon Draisaitl has also commented on Connor's expiring deal.
Leon Draisaitl makes diplomatic and respectful comments to the media
Leon Draisaitl has publicly expressed his strong desire for Connor McDavid to remain with the Oilers for as long as possible, but he maintains a respectful and hands-off approach to the superstar's contract negotiations.
Draisaitl's recent comments reveal a diplomatic and understanding position, given his first-hand experience with the process, as well as his understanding of the intricacies of playing in a passionate hockey market like Edmonton. Ultimately, he acknowledges it's McDavid's own decision when he will sign.
Having been to the Stanley Cup Finals twice, and having played his entire career in Edmonton with McDavid, no doubt a strong friendship has developed, one further bonded by the locker-room camaraderie.
Draisaitl believes McDavid genuinely loves and feels at home in Edmonton, a sentiment the Captain has expressed repeatedly when addressing the media during Edmonton's 'captain skates, and on TSN's Ryan Rishaug.
Draisaitl and other Oilers teammates are trying to ignore the ongoing contract-noise, choosing instead to be supportive and concentrate on the upcoming season. Leon expressed his hope for a quick resolution, saying he hopes "something gets reported soon."
Soon, however, means whenever Connor McDavid is ready; he indicated as much during his interview with Ryan Rishaug yesterday.
"A lot of thought going into it and I think people should appreciate that because when it's all said and done we're not going to be feeling like, «Oh we rushed into anything." It's going to be well thought out for both sides, as I'm sure the Oilers are doing as well, so I think people can appreciate the effort behind it."
Leon Draisaitl certainly appreciates the effort that goes into a negotiation and stands by his friend in these turbulent times.
