With the NHL playoff bracket now fully set, the scheduling of the Oilers and Kings first round matchup is finally being made public.
The Oilers are set to begin the series on the road against Los Angeles, clinched after their 5-0 win over Edmonton this week.
Full playoff schedule released for Edmonton Oilers and LA Kings series
According to insider Jason Gregor, the first round series for the Edmonton Oilers will begin on Monday, April 21st.
Additionally, the LA Kings released their own schedule for all their home games in the series. Their schedule has Game 1 as still indefinite, but Gregor's report seems concrete. If the series reaches 7 games, it will be played on Saturday May 3rd.
Previous reports from Jason Gregor have Games 3 and 4 on April 25th and 27th, and Game 6 on May 1.
This would mean the entire playoff schedule looks as follows:
G1: Monday, April 21 @ LA
G2 Wednesday, April 23 @ LA
G3: Friday, April 25 @ EDM
G4: Sunday, April 27 @ EDM
G5: Tuesday, April 29 @ LA
G6: Thursday, May 1 @ EDM
G7: Saturday, May 3 @ LA
The later start date for the playoffs is certainly a welcome decision for the Oilers.
The playoff series could've began on April 20th, but with that one extra day, the Oilers will be able to get some more valuable rest for their beat up roster.
The Edmonton Oilers are currently down in San Jose for their final game of the regular season, and they could be staying down in the area until Game 1 of the playoffs. The only goal left until then is rest up and prepare to realize their season-long goals.
