Appearing on the panel for last nights' Oilers vs Devils game, the analysts discussed Edmonton's improvement in goal, specifically about Tristan Jarry's athleticism.

Jarry a clear upgrade in Oilers' net

MCTAVISH: [Jarry's] looked unbelievably good as far as I'm concerned. The one thing that really stands out to me about Tristan Jarry is how quick his feet are. He slams the bottom part of the net down really quickly, he moves much more athletically than Stu Skinner does. It's a graphic difference from Stu. Stu was a blocker, he had a lot of success here over the years, but this guy has the athleticism that can win you games.

STAUFFER: He's got a better glove hand and puck handling ability.

Several reports have circulated recently about Edmonton's goalies; except this time because of their quality play, compared to the negativity that had surrounded them earlier in the season.
The proof, of course, is Edmonton's record since Tristan Jarry arrived in Edmonton December 12.
In the last 20-games since the goalie-swap, they are 12-6-2, with the former-Penguin 4-1-1 and a 2.48 GAA.
Numbers like that will stabilize a team, especially one that was leaking goals against and losses.
Since Christmas, the Oilers rank fifth in goals against per game at 2.42 and their penalty kill is tied for second best at 88.9%. Good goaltending is a big reason why.
And in January they actually improved, with a 2.11 goals against per game and a PK of 89.5%.
So yes, whether it's his athleticism and superior technical skills, his ability to make timely saves, or all of it, Jarry's presence in goal has allowed Edmonton the confidence to go out and score goals.
Where saves are concerned, Tristan has done the rest.
