Former Oilers coach Jay Woodcroft is looking to get back into the NHL after missing nearly the last two full seasons, and may have his next job with the Anaheim Ducks.
Jay Woodcroft will have tough competition to get job as Anaheim Ducks head coach
According to a new update from NHL Insider Pierre LeBrun, the Anaheim Ducks have interviewed Jay Woodcroft, David Carle, Joel Quenneville for their new head coaching job.
Woodcroft has some real tough competition to get the gig over a few coaches with far more experience than him - Joel Quenneville being the coach with the best resume on the ice at least.
Joel Quenneville was banned from the NHL after his involvement with the Chicago Blackhawks scandal involving Kyle Beach, that also implicated Oilers GM Stan Bowman. Just by virtue of the fact that Bowman has made his return to the NHL means Quenneville will not be far behind.
On the other hand, Woodcroft could be a solid fit for a young team looking to develop into a contender over a hardened coach like Quenneville.
Woodcroft has a great track record himself in his limited experience as a head coach, with a 79-41-13 record. Arguably, he was down in by horrific goaltending from
Jack Campbell and
Stuart Skinner to start the season. Hopefully, he find another gig soon and can get back into the NHL.
