Edmonton Oilers provide major injury update on Jake Walman

The Edmonton Oilers have officially activated defenceman Jake Walman from the injured reserve, and he'll be active for their next game.
Walman suffered an injury after one preseason game, and missed the remainder of Oilers training camp. Initially ruled as day-to-day, Walman ended up missing over 3 weeks with the undisclosed injury.

The Oilers officially announced their roster move to activate Walman on social media today.
Getting Jake Walman back is a massive addition for the Oilers who are struggling out of the gate again this season.
The Oilers are mostly dealing with offensive problems early this year, but Jake Walman is still a key piece that can assist that area. His slick breakout passing and strong defensive ability will help the Oilers get the puck up the ice faster and into the O-zone, which is much needed at the moment.
Walman should enter the lineup playing alongside Darnell Nurse on the second pair. Troy Stecher or Ty Emberson will likely be the ones exiting the lineup - and could potentially be cut from the roster.
Edmonton Oilers need to make more roster moves with Walman healthy
Now that Walman has been activated and more players are shortly behind him, the Oilers may have to make more roster moves. Given their logjam of depth forwards and defenceman, it could include a trade.
However, the injury to Kasperi Kapanen may delay any decisions for the Oilers on that front. If Kapanen is later placed on IR or LTIR, the Oilers will have a free roster spot and cap space to keep an extra body.
We'll see if the Oilers prepare another roster move before their game tomorrow night against the Montreal Canadiens.
