The Edmonton Oilers have a few prospects that are taking steps forward and turning heads early this season.

GM Stan Bowman added prospects from multiple avenues this season to really flesh out the Oilers prospect system. Multiple European and College free agents have impressed in preseason and AHL games, but there's a few more under the radar talents too.

Nathaniel Day impresses in rookie season with Oilers organization

After being signed to his entry level contract this offseason, Nathaniel Day is beginning his first full season with the ECHL's Fort Wayne Komets, and may not be there for long on account of his great play.
The 20 year old 6'3 goaltender looked great through training camp, and now has posted a shutout in his first game of the season.
Day was also signed by the Komets on a tryout contract last season, and posted incredible numbers then with a .981 save percentage in 3 games.
Connor Ingram will get some time to get up to speed in the AHL for a while, but when he's called up to the Oilers, Day will likely be taking the Condors job sooner than expected if he maintains this level of play.
Oilers analyst Allan Mitchell has also raised a note on Day's quick dominance of pro hockey - and has identified him as a talent that could lead to the Oilers crease.

Oilers analyst names Paul Fischer as standout talent early this season

Oilers prospect expert Bruce Curlock is calling attention to some positive signs in the development of Paul Fischer, who's scored 5 points in 4 games with Notre Dame University.
The Edmonton Oilers acquired in Fischer in trade from the St. Louis Blues as a throw-in for allowing their offer sheets to go unmatched. A 5th round pick of the Blues in 2023, no one had high hopes for Fischer when the Oilers got him.
If he can take a step forward and excel in a a quantity level of hockey in the Big 10, it will be found money for the Edmonton Oilers. He'll be a player to track through this season.
