Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch has confirmed that Jake Walman is unavailable to play while dealing with an injury, but it shouldn't be too long.
Walman got in to play 1 preseason game so far, and didn't appear to get injured in the game. It's possible he sustained an injury in practice, but either way, the Oilers will be cautious.
Oilers defenceman Jake Walman ruled out with injury
Speaking to the media after last night's game, Knoblauch confirmed that Walman was slotted in to play tonight, but Troy Stecher had to sub in after the injury ruling.
Walman's unavailable right now, so Stecher and Nurse obviously have some chemistry. But Walman, we see as being [Nurse's] partner.
I think it's just day to day. He'll be on the ice in a couple.
It's good to hear that Walman likely won't miss too much time, and should be ready for the Oilers' regular season opener on October 8th - just under 2 weeks away.
Since being acquired at the trade deadline last year, Walman immediately entered as a perfect fit onto the blueline. A strong 2-way player with a physical presence, he'll be a quality top 4 option this year alongside Darnell Nurse.
