In a new episode of 'The More You Know,' a video interview of Connor McDavid hosted by his lovely wife Lauren Kyle, the Oilers' captain touched on legacy, recovery, and life away from the arena.

The video, posted on Instagram, is a personal look into the life of one of hockey's most talented players, whose career will be remembered as one of the most impactful in the modern NHL.
Ironically, this interview was posted just one day before McDavid officially re-signed to stay with the Edmonton Oilers.

Connor McDavid speaks on his legacy

Asked by his wife what kind of legacy he hopes to leave, and what is most important to him, Connor McDavid didn't hesitate.
«Winning is the legacy you want to leave; leave wherever you are better than how you found it.»

- Connor McDavid

Now that he's officially signed an extension to stay in Edmonton, the message behind McDavid's words are even more clear. He needs to deliver a Stanley Cup to the Edmonton Oilers.
It is certainly a philosophy which he has brought to the team in his career, a franchise that is no doubt better for having Connor McDavid as a member.
During the interview, Connor also spoke about the 2019 knee injury he had succumbed, saying it was the hardest experience of his career.
The injury occurred against the Calgary Flames, when McDavid crashed into the goalpost at top-speed, an injury that was originally thought to be minor, but was, in fact quite serious: Torn PCL, damaged meniscus, and a small Tibia fracture.
Doctors had recommended surgery, though McDavid decided against it and proceeded with an aggressive rehab plan instead, working tirelessly through the offseason and able to dress for the first game of the following season.
«Definitely the worst injury I've had,» McDavid admitted. «It wasn't fun to go through. You rely on family and friends. They're the ones that get you through it.»

For a fan of the player, seeing Connor McDavid in a personal setting is refreshing, and shows a side of him rarely seen. Good for the Captain.
