Throughout the season Evan Bouchard emerged as a star defenceman, and in the playoffs he's proving to be among the best in NHL history.

Bouchard has 18 points in 11 games this postseason, which is absolutely unreal for a defenseman. Bouchard has always been amazing offensively, but few know how amazing he has actually been. Bouchard has a 1.11 points per game average in his playoff career, which is tied with Cale Makar for second place in all time behind Bobby Orr.

He has been so good for the Oilers not only on offense, but has also stepped up his lacklustre defensive play. He sits at a +10 in this playoffs, compared to his only +2 of all his playoffs experience. His defensive game has been much better, and the Oilers are really using him to pick up the slack of some other defenders.

The Oilers continue to be carried by the «big 3»

The Oilers have always been criticized for their lack of depth and how much McDavid and Draisaitl do for the team. Now the Oilers have another player in that narrative as Evan Bouchard completes their trio of scoring leaders.

This is an insane stat, as these three players have been so dominant that they are numbers 1, 2, and 3 for the scoring lead in the playoffs. This is as much a testament to the strength of these three as it is a shot to the rest of the lineup. Bouchard's emergence as a superstar has helped the Oilers immensely, but the depth still needs to be productive enough for the team to excel like they should.
