Earlier this season, Broberg requested a trade due to lack of playing time. He has since been sent to the AHL to play top minutes, where he's been unbelievable. It's great to hear that Broberg is gathering a lot of attention, as that means that the Oilers could have more potential buyers without having to give up a haul of too many picks. Broberg has been hot recently with 15 points in 22 games, and this is only going to be better for his trade value. If he can continue on the trajectory that he's on, he can be a great trade chip for the Oilers if they want to make a serious splash.
The Oilers could also keep Philip Broberg and develop him into a full time NHLer, but with the contending window being right now, it doesn't seem like that's the favourable route for them. If they can get a substantial return that can help them push for a cup, that may be worth more than anything Broberg could bring to the table in the future.
