Hintz reveals he played through broken foot, Jake Oettinger takes the blame
Roope Hintz confirmed that he did suffer the worst case scenario injury that most fans expected - a broken bone in his foot.
This obviously lines up with what NHL fans saw when Nurse delivered the chop to the top of Hintz's foot, and he left the game unable to put any weight on it.
It's truly incredible how NHL players are able to push through the pain of playing on a broken foot, and to do so in the playoffs.
DeBoer mostly walked back his emotional postgame statement, and reiterated his confidence in Oettinger. However, the Stars coach revealed they actually considered starting
Casey DeSmith earlier as Oettinger may have been overworked while playing through a respiratory problem.
Oettinger didn't take any of the outs around his own play, though. The Stars goalie has quickly risen to be an elite goalie in the NHL, but put up an .893 save percentage against the Oilers in the playoffs. He admitted being embarrassed by the pull, but mostly because of his own play.
After losing so handedly in the Conference Final to the Edmonton Oilers, the Stars may need to find a new path forward for their team if they ever intend to get to the next level to get past the Oilers.
