Stuart Skinner's time with the Pittsburgh Penguins hasn't started well, and fans are already calling for him to be placed on waivers.

Through his first 3 games with the Penguins, Skinner has yet to win a game and has posted a dismal .831 save percentage. It's a small sample size and there's still time to turn it around, but patience is already wearing thin.

Penguins fans call for Skinner to be placed on waivers if he can't find his game

With the ugly start to his time with the team, fans are already calling for drastic action with Skinner.
What's more interesting about Skinner's situation with the Penguins is that his job as their starter isn't entirely safe.
As the Penguins made the trade with the Oilers, Pittsburgh GM Kyle Dubas said that Skinner will be battling for the net. The Penguins have Arturs Silovs on the roster, and two talented prospects in the AHL who are close to getting the call to the NHL.
Waiving Skinner so quickly after the trade would be a rash decision by the Penguins, so it's unlikely to happen if he has just one more poor game. However, his results in Pittsburgh have looked closer to falling out of the NHL rather than securing a big UFA contract - and the Penguins aren't committed to him as much as Edmonton was.
After Skinner backstopped the Oilers to the Cup Final in the last two years, his contract value was driven up to a point the Oilers clearly just weren't comfortable paying. Now that he's on a new team though, his weaknesses may be more exposed.
For Oilers fans, they're just seeing the same kinds of weak goals that Skinner allowed in Edmonton.
Skinner will get his 4th start with the Penguins tonight, and will be looking to see some significant improvements. If things continue at an .831 save percentage, it'll be hard for him to find any opportunity in the NHL.
