NHL insider reveals line has been crossed in trash talk during Oilers Panthers Cup Final

The Oilers have released tons of amazing clips of Mic'd up players chirping their opponents through the playoffs, as is usual for the NHL. However, this Finals, things are crossing a line into deep hatred.

TSN Insider James Duthie shared today that multiple media members he's spoken to have claimed that this year's trash talk is crossing into subjects that had been considered out of bounds - definitely wading into personal attacks.

It's not surprising that both teams would have a deep hatred of each other given the circumstances. The Panthers are a famously dirty team and handed the Oilers the worst loss of their careers. On top of that, Florida is just frustratingly good.

With the Stanley Cup on the line, the history between these teams, and the amount of dirty cross checks that have happened in this series - historic levels of trash talk should've been expected.

There's plenty of material to cross into some personal chirps in this series as well. Aaron Ekblad is just returning from a Steroids suspension, Matthew Tkachuk famously turtles away from fights, and the Oilers have some characters of their own with Evander Kane and Corey Perry.

The best examples from earlier in the playoffs came from Connor Brown, who was laying into the Los Angeles Kings - once calling out Phil Danault's moustache in particular.

For insiders to share and note that the trash talk is reaching new levels now, they've got to be progressing way past moustache chirps. Things are incredibly personal in this series, which will create an amazing finish in Games 6 and hopefully 7.
