New Oilers forward Howard requests name change, speaks on trade request from Tampa Bay

The Edmonton Oilers have acquired forward prospect Isaac Howard from Tampa Bay after he refused to sign with the Lightning, and he spoke to the media today.
Howard is a 21 year old left shot sniper, and will get an immediate opportunity in Edmonton. Insider Bob Stauffer has suggested that Howard could immediately get first line minutes next season.
Howard speaks to Edmonton media for first time since trade to Oilers
Howard didn't formally request a trade from Tampa Bay, but when he informed them he wouldn't be signing with their team, he knew a trade would be next. When the trade talks began, Howard revealed he was hoping to go to Edmonton and take the opportunity with the Oilers.

For Oilers fans who have suffered through some tough times with the team in Edmonton, it's still amazing to hear young American players wishing to come to northern Alberta to join the class of the league.
The Hobey Baker award winner will have high hopes heading into Edmonton playing in the top six. There's a chance there to have a 30+ goal season next to the Oilers stars, but not every player has been able to cut it.
Newest Oilers forward reveals he prefers to be called Ike Howard
One more important detail Howard revealed when speaking to the media today - he actually prefers to go by the name Ike Howard.
It seems like a simple enough thing, but some fans reacted harshly to Howard' request. Maybe some opposing fans are jealous the Oilers landed the young top prospect.

Hopefully Ike Howard is able to fit right into Edmonton's top 6, and the Oilers have just acquired a young star player to extend their contention window.
