Top Oilers insider Bob Stauffer believes that Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers will begin to come together on a contract extension just after Leon Draisaitl's wedding.
McDavid is set to have a summer packed of huge personal events, which led to some belief contract talks could be delayed. His close friend and teammate Leon Draisaitl will be getting married in France this August. After that, contract talks will pick up.

In a new report on OilersNow, insider Bob Stauffer guaranteed the team will re-sign Connor McDavid, and it could be coming just after they return from Draisaitl's wedding on the first weekend of August.
Let's just cut to the chase here. I still believe 100% that Connor McDavid will be extended in the off season by the Edmonton Oilers. I know there's some people freaking out. There's one of the Toronto media guys who every day tweets an update on how many days until McDavid becomes a free agent.

Letting McDavid get to even training camp without a contract would cause pandemonium in the NHL. Hearing the top Oilers insider guarantee a deal will get done, and hopefully in early August, is very reassuring for fans.
With McDavid, Draisaitl, and Bouchard all under contract the Oilers will have significant extended their window to win the Stanley Cup. When the contract is officially announced, Oilers fans will basically throw a party.
Stauffer also reported that the Oilers will be looking to re-sign Jake Walman, Mattias Ekholm, and college free agent Mac Gadowsky to new contracts.
All of these moves together would put the Oilers in an incredible position to win the Stanley Cup next season, and keep competing for years to come. Hopefully, GM Stan Bowman can get it done.
