In the Tkachuk brothers' most recent edition of the Wingmen Podcast, Matthew told a story of a time he needed separate security in Edmonton during the Battle of Alberta.

The Tkachuks have already spoken at length about their times in Edmonton during the Cup Finals, with Brady saying he was frustrated by fan chirps while he was in the stands. Things for Matthew were at the next level though, especially when he was a Flame.

Matthew Tkachuk says he needed security to attend games in Battle of Alberta after Kassian fights

In a new clip from the Wingmen Podcast, Matthew Tkachuk revealed the team needed to provide additional security measures while in Edmonton after his infamous turtling incident with Kassian.
[Kassian] hits me with 20 good ones. The next game we're playing in Edmonton, and I'm like, 'F*** this, I don't want to fight him because I feel like I have to - I want to fight him because he beat the s*** out of me.' I want to stick up for myself.

Get to Edmonton, and the team with Calgary was like, 'Matthew, this is intense. You don't understand what's going on here.' They're like, we had to change your name for the hotel room, cause people will try to get in your room, call you, or just f*** with you all night.

The hotel with Edmonton is just across this little archway to the rink, so everyone just walks there before games. They brought security, maybe a cop from Calgary to stay with us. They're like, 'Matthew, you have to take the bus.' Bus for one. It was just me, the security, and the cop.

Warmups were f****** insane. I had more signs and more hate stuff, and just chirps. There was like, turtle costumes in the crowd. That was absolutely epic.

- Matthew Tkachuk
The fans of Oil Country are passionate and know their hockey well, so of course they'd make Rogers Place a hostile environment for the opposition - but no one's doing anything off the ice. It's fairly ridiculous how much the Tkachuks have played this up, like they're at risk even being in Edmonton.
Matthew will always be a rival for the Oilers given his history playing against the team, but that's it. He can expect to hear the turtle chirps for the rest of his career, and Oilers fans can always relish in the clips of Kassian ragdolling him all over the ice.
It would've been nice to beat Tkachuk for a Stanley Cup in the last two years, but the Oilers will be back for redemption again.
