Leon Draisaitl answers heated argument with referees through entire season

Draisaitl has found himself arguing with the referees in the faceoff for numerous times in his career, and last night was just the same - but it almost got to be worse with an unsportsmanlike penalty.

NHL on TNT camera picked up an incredible angle of Draisaitl after being kicked out of a faceoff, absolutely laying into the referees.

Draisaitl seemed to be making fun of the referee for jerking around the players by mistiming the dropping of the puck.

As Draisaitl was yelling and clearly ticked off, another great angle from the crowd shows that McDavid stepped in to calm him down while taking over the faceoff dot. Settling down the situation was great leadership to not annoy the refs for later, or earn an unsportsmanlike penalty.

Draisaitl has gone after the referees for this before, which is also why McDavid may have wanted to cool him down. Draisaitl gets thrown out of the faceoff for more than any other player in the NHL, and it always seems to be because he's cheating for any advantage.

Speaking to the media last night, Draisaitl was lightly asked around the topic, and admitted that it wasn't his best night on faceoffs.

On top of his existing problems with the referees on faceoffs, Draisaitl was ticked off with his own performance in the dot last night - that lead to the more heated than usual argument.

It's honestly great to see an Oilers star play with so much overt passion, and McDavid able to lead and calm the situation down on the biggest stage.
