The St. Louis Blues are in town to take on the Edmonton Oilers tonight, missing a key player in Dylan Holloway - and they may miss him through the playoffs too.
Oilers fans obviously know Holloway and Broberg well, after the team lost both young players to offer sheets in St. Louis. Losing out on Holloway seems to be the big mistake for the Oilers.
Dylan Holloway may have catastrophic injury for Blues playoffs
Earlier this week, Dylan Holloway left a game after taking a routine check in the corner from a Penguins defenceman. Holloway fell awkwardly, and has since been deemed week-to-week.
In a follow-up update yesterday, Blues reporter Jeremy Rutherford reported that Holloway's medical evaluation was far from positive news.
The Blues initially hoped that Holloway would only miss 2 weeks at most, but Rutherford hints it's much more significant.
At this time of year, any injury that would require surgery could knock a player out of the playoffs entirely - especially in a shorter playoff run. If Dylan Holloway even misses three weeks, he could miss the entire first round of the playoffs.
Blues fans are distraught at the possibility of Holloway being ruled out of the playoffs, as he's been such a key contributor for their team. The 23 year old Alberta native forward has 26 goals and 63 points this season.
Holloway's speed and scoring in the top six are a key ingredient in the Blues success, and without him in the playoffs, they'll be in for a tough matchup against anyone in the first round - it may even be catastrophic for their chances of winning.
