Florida Panthers player rips Oilers fan on social media after cheap shot

Greer was playing up to his usual role of an agitator last night, and in especially cowardly fashion. After taking cheap shots at the Oilers last night, he's posting about the fans today.

In a post on Instagram today Greer posted a tweet from Oilers fan Kevin McCurdy which called the Panthers forward out for his greasy play. Greer was mocking the message - proud of his play style.

Greer has always been a pest on the ice, and healed up his play for the Cup Final rematch.

Just midway through the first period Greer was already causing trouble, and Trent Frederic stepped in to stop him. Instead Greer declined to fight and instead swept his legs out for a takedown, an extremely dangerous play.

The Panthers' pest continued to be a problem throughout the game, and the Oilers kept going at him. To end the game, Connor Clattenburg tried to initiate another fight but Greer once again kept his gloves on.

Then Greer tossed a glove to throw one sucker punch at Clattenburg before being tackled by the Oilers.

Greer just looks like a clown for proudly defending this cowardly style of play. NHL fans can obviously appreciate a player who plays physical but respects the code - this is just bush league stuff. To single out fans is a gross move by an NHL player too.

This is a matchup that will be remembered every time the Oilers and Panthers match up in the next few seasons. Hopefully next time, Greer faces some more pushback from the Oilers.
