The Edmonton Oilers and Los Angeles Kings will face off for a fourth straight first round playoff matchup, this time, with former Oiler Warren Foegele on the Kings.

Earlier this season, Foegele playfully threw some chirps at his former team saying that he hates the Oilers, but only because he's embraced the rivalry.

Warren Foegele throws shade at Edmonton in new interview

Speaking in a new interview with NHL writer Derek Van Diest, Foegele said that he's feeling the best he ever has in his career, and the move to the sunny weather in LA is a big reason why.
Not only that, but when the playoff series begins, he expects to have no friends on the ice.
I think my mental health is probably in a better place than it has been in the past. It's always sunny and it always puts you in a better mood when the sun is out.

The friendships will always last forever, but a bunch of those guys know that once the playoffs start, we won't be friends, and then we'll go back to being friends once the series is over.

- Warren Foegele

Foegele also specifically mentioned Leon Draisaitl being a player that made a major impact on him as a player. Draisaitl could lean into his teammates, but also drove Foegele to be consistently better.
I learned a lot playing in Edmonton and I learned a lot playing with Leon. He's a heck of a player. He can be hard on his linemates sometimes, but I think in the long run it's beneficial.

I think one of the things I do remember him saying is that you can't just do it every couple of games, you have to try and do it every night. That's probably one of the hardest things to do in this league is to be consistent. I think I've taken that message from him and tried to apply it, especially this year.

Now 29 years old, Foegele has put up a career season with the Kings this season, beating his career year he set the previous year in Edmonton.
Foegele has 22 goals and 43 points in 79 games, and the most impressive factor is that all of his scoring comes at 5 on 5. The former Oiler can be tenacious on the forecheck, a physical presence, and has continued to improve his scoring touch.
As an older and slower team this season, perhaps the Oilers do miss a player like Foegele.
Still, the Oilers have much more talent than the Kings, and when healthy are just as deep on forward and defence. The Oilers have had the Kings number with 3 straight playoff wins, and this year, will look to crush all hope with a 4th straight victory.
