REPORT: NHL Broadcaster is Sure The Oilers Are Going to Acquire This Superstar
Former NHL defenceman and now commentator Keith Yandle felt that the Oilers should make every effort to obtain Jacob Chychrun from the Arizona Coyotes. Yandle predicted that the Oilers would trade for Chychrun during the intermission, and went as far as saying it will happen.
Chychrun's views on being moved to a Stanley Cup contender have been discussed extensively. He made that statement in early September just before training camp of his intentions. Once that was known there has been wild speculation across the league as to where he would be moved to.
Since his return to the Arizona lineup, he has played 13 games with 3 goals 9 assists for 12 points, and is a + 7. He was drafted in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft 1st round 16th pick overall.
With the numbers he's presenting and improving the Coyotes are certainly getting many phone calls regarding his services. It will intensify as the trade deadline approaches in early March when Arizona should receive the highest return.
The 24-year-old defenseman is currently signed through the 2024-2025 season and carries a cap hit of $4.6 million for this season which includes the modified no-trade clause which kicks in after this season finishes for remaining two seasons. I feel he will be moved at the deadline.
