BREAKING NEWS - The Biggest Name So Far This Season Has Been Waived By His Team

Nobody anticipated that the Detroit Red Wings would waive Jakub Vrana in order to make space for the return of Robby Fabbri. The young forward, who had recently advanced to the next phase of the Player Assistance Program, has reportedly been placed on waivers today, according to Chris Johnston, Elliotte Friedman, and a number of other NHL analyst.

Given that Vrana was just acquired by the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for star player Anthony Mantha years ago, this is surprising.

The NHL's players assistance program, which aids athletes struggling with addiction, mental illness, or family concerns, recently came into a roadblock for Vrana, who was taken 13rd overall in the 2014 draft.

We hope that another team will be able to offer Vrana the opportunity to succeed, especially because he is just 26 years old and has promising statistics.

Although he holds a cap hit of $5.5 million per season, which ends after this year, if team's have the space this is surely a low-risk high reward scenario.
