The Edmonton Oilers have been linked to trading for Canucks forward Kieffer Sherwood by top insider Bob Stauffer.

The Oilers have also recently been linked to inquiring on Bruins power forward Pavel Zacha as well. As it stands then, it seems the Oilers are most interested in adding up front via trade.

Top Oilers insider suggests Edmonton could target Kieffer Sherwood in trade

On today's edition of OilersNow, insider Bob Stauffer downplayed suggestions of trading back for players like Evander Kane or Corey Perry - but did mention Sherwood as an option.
There's a different pending UFA in Vancouver that I would look at that might be a better situational fit for what Edmonton needs. We're probably talking a third line forward, a second slash third line forward, a middle sixth player. Who would you go grab? Because there is a guy I think that would be a pretty good fit.

There will be teams lined up to trade for him. He made over 450 hits last year, 19 goals. He was a major pain in the ass for Vancouver when they played Nashville (Sherwood's team at that time) in the playoffs a couple years ago. Represented by (Connor McDavid's agent) Judd Moldaver.

- Bob Stauffer

Sherwood has played only 276 NHL games at 30 years of age, but has begun to break out as an excellent bottom six forwards.
He brings a great amount of speed, over 400 hits last season, and scored 19 goals and 40 points in 78 games. Sherwood can be a quality 5v5 contributor in the bottom six, and be a pain for the opposition.
The Oilers trading for Sherwood would be an incredible move that would add a much needed element to their bottom six, and help them win the Stanley Cup this season.
