Oilers facing two distinct problems with goalie tandem early this season

The Edmonton Oilers goalie tandem was their biggest position of weakness entering the season, and there's been some worrying signs early this year.
Both Edmonton Oilers goaltenders showing concerning signs early this season
To be comfortable with Skinner entering the playoffs, he needs to prove consistency this season. He's been a solid starter at times, but has also lost the net in the playoffs multiple times.
So far this season, Skinner has an .898 save percentage in 7 games - which is above average. However, it also comes with a few poor games, where weak goals may have costed the team.
Last night, Skinner once again allowed a goal that was a pure misplay. It's these types of weak goals that will sink him if they persist, and so far, he's allowed a total stinker in 3 of 7 games.
And unfortunately for the Oilers, their backup goalie hasn't been anywhere near good enough.
Calvin Pickard sits at an awful .846 save percentage in 4 games.
Skinner ranks near the middle for save percentage, 20th out of 45 goalies at .898 per game.
Calvin Pickard ranks 41st at .846, even as he's generally been OK in his starts.

Although it isn't the biggest story of the season so far, the Oilers goaltending is far below average this season.
It should continue to be a focal point of evaluation for the front office this season, before they finalize the roster they'll enter the playoffs with. The Oilers can't afford another playoffs with far below league average goaltending.
