The Florida Panthers have developed a reputation for being a tough team and not afraid to throw their body around to win the game. However, it's clear some of their hits are dirty in nature and tonight during the Wild - Panthers game, Panthers forward Will Lockwood gave a dirty shoulder hit on Wild goaltender Marc Andre Fleury.
Fleury later had to leave the game. It took hardly any time to realize that this was not over and that the Wild had a settled to score. Within a few minutes, Wild winger Brandon Duhaime decided to take matters into his own hands in which he dropped his gloves to stand up for his goalie.
The fight quickly erupted as both men began to throw their right hooks which connected. As the fight went on it's clear that Duhaime overpowered Lockwood and gained the upper hand. After several blows to the head and back of the neck, Duhaime launched his decisive blow which sent Lockwood flying to the ice.
Despite this bad season that the Wild are having, it's good to see that teammates are sticking up for one another and making sure those plays are answered. It also shows that the Wild will not be pushed around especially from a team like the Panthers who have built the reputation in toughness and hits.
The final score of the game was 6-4 in favor of the Wild.
