The Oilers have given out some interesting bonuses themselves this year, including some salary bonuses for playoff series wins on
Corey Perry's deal.
Taylor Hall given unique contract clause by Carolina Hurricanes
According to new updates from
PuckPedia, Taylor Hall's 3 year contract will involve a no move clause if he scores 35 points in the second year. If not, it will restrict to a 10 team no-trade list.
It's a great deal for the Carolina Hurricanes, giving them options to get out of the contract if it ages poorly, and Hall fails to keep producing.
NHL fans, and surely other teams, have taken note of this contract clause and will likely try to replicate it in the future. However, the concession is giving an older player a 3 year contract.
At the rate he's currently playing at, Hall won't need to worry about his no-move clause, and the salary will be an incredible deal for Carolina.
Hall has scored 18 points in 31 games with the Hurricanes, scoring at his highest pace since 2021-22. At only $3.167M for 3 years, a player scoring at a 47 point pace is a great deal.
Had Hall not signed in Carolina, there may have been some interest in a reunion with the Oilers. Insiders had precision suggested a return with Hall was possible, but he must be happy with the Hurricanes. All the best to the former Oiler on potentially his final contract.
