Leon Draisaitl has been the MVP of the Oilers season, and in last night's playoff opener against the Los Angeles Kings, a tense moment from the superstar turned the game around.
Leon Draisaitl yelling at teammates once again finds new gear from every Oiler
Soon after, McDavid and Draisaitl connected to start the comeback for Edmonton.
Sportsnet analyst Kevin Bieksa raised a great point that the Oilers superstars were the ones putting in the most effort - a problem that the rest of the roster needed to remedy.
I see two players that want this more than anyone else on the team, and for me that's a problem right now. Where are the physical guys? Why are your two star guys working harder than everyone else?
- Kevin Bieksa
When a team's superstar players like McDavid and Draisaitl are elevating their efforts in the biggest game of the year, it drags the rest of the team into the fight.
Draisaitl is a player who can lead by example, but also lean on his teammates verbally to get more.
The Oilers stars led by example, and by the third period, the team was finally clicking. The big problem, as McDavid said, is the slow starts.
The two superstars will need to continue their leadership in all ways to complete a fourth straight series victory against the LA Kings - and it looks like it'll be a tough task.
