Team Canada is finally heading back to the Olympics in 2026, and Hockey Canada has officially unveiled their new uniforms for Italy.
Unfortunately, not too many Edmonton Oilers may be wearing the jersey. According to the most recent projections, only
Connor McDavid will make the Olympic squad - and three other invitees to camp will be cut.
Team Canada officially unveils new jerseys for 2026 Olympics
Hockey Canada revealed the new uniforms in a social media post tonight.
The jerseys will feature much more of the colour black in their uniforms than in years past.
Their red-based jersey features a black Maple Leaf logo and stripes, and there's also an alternate jersey of a black base with a red Maple Leaf. The jerseys also features very highlighted contours within the Leaf.
Hockey fans don't respond well to new Team Canada uniforms
Team Canada has so many iconic jerseys in their past that it'll be difficult to please all fans with any new uniforms. However, the response to these jerseys is pretty unified in dislike.
Droves of fans online have spoken out against the jerseys, particularly taking issue with the black being a prominent feature, and leaving the classic red and white look.
Canada's roster hasn't been finalized to this point, but that will be the next milestones for fans to watch out for. On December 31st, Olympic teams will have to narrow their rosters to 22 skaters and 3 goalies.
Maybe the jerseys will grow on fans over time, and hopefully will look great on the ice on a winning Canadian team. At the end of the day, taking home a Gold Medal is all that matters.
