The Edmonton Oilers were glad to see Trent Frederic make his debut with the team since being acquired from the trade deadline, but then injury concerns were raised after a fast injury.

Frederic had been held out with injury since being acquired by the Oilers just before the deadline, and some concerns were raised that he may not even be available before the playoffs.

Trent Frederic has injury problem resurface seconds into Oilers debut

Trent Frederic started the game for the Oilers, and began to mix things up on his first shift - but then didn't come off the bench for a while longer.
Frederic was in clear discomfort and then stayed on the bench for quite a while after his first shift.
There's a clear concern when Frederic has yet to play with the Oilers due to an ankle injury. For more than a few weeks, the Oilers kept claiming that Frederic was two weeks away - and now the playoffs are slated to begin in two weeks.
After Frederic left the game for a while, he was able to make a comeback - but still didn't play a full game. Frederic only registered 7:10 of ice time, a very low amount that indicates he's still not fully comfortable.
When he was in the game, Frederic was often buzzing and getting in the opposition's kitchen. He brought the exact pest energy the Oilers wanted, initiating scrums and taking on multiple players, but the only issue is that they'd like him to play more minutes.
After the game, Coach Knoblauch stressed that the Oilers will continue to be cautious with Frederic's injury and the rest of the injured Oilers, potentially hinting that he won't play against the Anaheim Ducks.
I haven't heard of an injury, but I still haven't talked to our medical staff. We're always definitely cautious here during the regular season compared to playoffs. I couldn't comment on exactly where he is and how he's feeling right now. We definitely want to be cautious.

- Coach Knoblauch
Some believe that the Oilers will shut down Frederic for their next game against Anaheim, and continue to build him up slowly to get into the lineup.
Hopefully the Oilers can get Frederic back in the lineup and fully healthy for the playoffs. At this point, nothing else should matter for Edmonton aside from getting fully healthy.
