Panthers goalie reveals Calvin Pickard's response to warm up taunt against Stuart Skinner
The Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers series has become incredibly heated with some personal rivalries, one being Panthers backup goalie Vitek Vanecek taunting Stuart Skinner in warmup.
The Panthers are known for their pest style of play, and trying to get under their opponents' skin.
Evander Kane said today it doesn't really work, but honestly, it does look effective.
Panthers backup goalie reveals what Pickard said in brief warmup moment
Vitek Vanecek has been disrupting Stuart Skinner's warmup routine throughout the series, skating up directly to him at center ice and staring him down the entire time.
In Game 4, Pickard skated up and told Vanecek to follow him instead, and leave Skinner, which the Panthers goalie declined.
Vanecek added that he's only begun this routine in warmup this series, to specifically mess with Skinner pre-game. Skinner hasn't played the best in the last two games, and Pickard tried to pull Vanecek away - so it may have been working a bit.
Pickard is now taking the starter's role again in Game 5, and he's been entirely unflappable through this year's playoffs.
In the moments where the Oilers were looking for stability the most, Pickard has entered the crease and hasn't lost a game in the playoffs yet. Now with an .896 save percentage, he simply just has better numbers than Skinner.
Pickard will be looking to get the job done once again on home ice in a critical Game 5, looking to push the Panthers to the brink of elimination. If he gets the win tonight, he'll absolutely be back in for Game 6 in Florida.
