According to a recent quote from Oilers' prospect Matt Savoie, posted on social media by analyst Gene Principe, the young, former top pick is ready to graduate to the Oilers' lineup.

Young talented prospect ready to make an impression at training camp

That Matt Savoie has reportedly worked on increasing his strength and speed during the summer, further demonstrating his commitment to making the team; and now entering his second training camp, he seems ready to do so.
Savoie had a strong first pro-season last year with the Bakersfield Condors, recording19G and 35A in 66 games, and finishing 2nd in the AHL in rookie scoring, securing a spot in the 2025 AHL All-Star Classic.
Matt is known for his offensive talent, including his speed, puck-handling, and shooting abilities. He possesses a well-rounded game and has demonstrated improved two-way play, including effectiveness on the penalty kill, which could make him a valuable asset in the Oilers' lineup in 2025-26.
While drafted as a center, he's expected to play the wing, where he'll audition for a role alongside Leo Draisaitl and Connor McDavid on the team's top-6.
The Oilers' lineup is considered relatively veteran-heavy, and Savoie is expected to provide an injection of youth and high-upside talent, together with fellow-prospect forward Ike Howard, who's entering his first training camp with Edmonton this year.
The Oilers believe Savoie is ready for the next step in his development and are committed to giving him the opportunity to play at the NHL level. While there may be some initial growing pains, the coaching staff is expected to show trust in him and allow him to play through mistakes, as they view him as a big part of the team's future.
Getting bigger and stronger is a key component for the young 21-year old, who has yet to experience a full NHL season. Though he performed well in 66 games with Bakersfield, the NHL is another level altogether; his conditioning will help him in this respect.
