The Edmonton Oilers are on the ice for practice ahead of tonight's game against the Montreal Canadiens, and will make slight adjustments to their lineup.
Oilers move Matthew Savoie to first line for tonight's game vs Montreal Canadiens
According to reporters from Oilers practice, the team is expected to use the following lineup tonight against the Canadiens:
McDavid and Draisaitl remain together on the first line, and that will give Matthew Savoie a prime opportunity to prove himself.
Savioe's earned this promotion with his quality two-way play in the bottom six, even proving his defensive ability on the penalty kill. He's been around the net with scoring chances, and now playing alongside star level players, he may be able to capitalize more on his offensive talents. It's a well deserved promotion for Savoie.
Vasily Podkolzin was previously on the first line job, and now will be skating on the third line with Philp and Frederic. Otherwise, lines and defence pairings remain the same.
Calvin Pickard will get the start in net tonight, a bit of a surprising decision to turn to him again while Skinner is well-rested.
The Oilers will finally be back on home ice after their 5 game road trip tonight, and will look to make up for their slow start with a win over the Habs tonight.
