Oilers insider Bob Stauffer is calling on Coach Knoblauch to give more ice time to rookie players this season.
Throughout the beginning of the season, a few notable Oilers rookies have dropped onto the 4th line or scratched entirely. Even though there's promising signs for a breakout, Coach Knoblauch hasn't given them much ice time.

Speaking on OilersNow, insider Bob Stauffer lightly suggested that Knoblauch should be more willing to trust the rookies.

General Manager Stan Bowman has clearly acquired these players to extend the contention window of this team, but the rookies need to develop to their potential. Giving them meaningful roles on the ice is essential for development.
Matt Savoie has shown solid 2-way ability and should be ready for a feature role. David Tomasek racked up tons of scoring chances, but will certainly break through given the time. Ike Howard is improving rapidly, and could best harness his goal scoring talents alongside skill players.
Coach Knoblauch needs to buy into the GM's plan and assist the future of this team by giving these rookies a chance to thrive. Stauffer's right to call on the coach to give them more opportunity on the ice.
