Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner is off to a hot start this season, and he's now declaring that this is his new standard of play.

The Oilers just squeaked out a 3-2 overtime win against the Ottawa Senators where Skinner was once again stellar. After a rough performance in Game 1 of the year, Skinner has now turned it around quickly.

Speaking to the media after their win over the Senators, Skinner declared that this is the new level of play that he's going to maintain this season. If that holds true, it'll be incredible.
«I feel like this is a really good floor for me. The new floor for me. Just continuing my game, staying in the same mind frame here, and just give the guys a chance to win.»

- Stuart Skinner

Through his first 5 games of the season, Skinner owns a .909 save percentage and is ranking near league average in most advanced stats. With this level of goaltending, the Oilers have a chance to win every night.
Against the Senators, Skinner stepped up to make key saves and keep the Oilers in the game through a lull in their pace. This is exactly what the team needs from their goalie.
Skinner also touched upon the most important facet of his hot start to the season - the need to keep it up consistently.
Insiders reported this season that Skinner is on the clock from the front office, so they'll be closely monitoring his ability to keep it up.
The Oilers have finally wrapped up their 5 game road trip and will be back on home ice tomorrow to face the Montreal Canadiens.
