As injuries continue to mount for the Edmonton Oilers, the latest update concerning forward Mattias Janmark only adds complications to a steadily-changing lineup.
Though reports indicated Mattias was ready to join his teammates on the ice soon, a more-recent update suggests he may not.
Injury to forward continues to shake-up the lineup
Mainly, it's Mattias Janmark's versatility and defensive reliability that is being missed, due to an undisclosed injury for which he was placed on injured reserve on October 6, 2025, according to NHL.com
Losing Janmark, along with other injuries, has put the forward depth to the test early in the 2025-26 season, where coach Knoblauch has been forced to juggle his lineup to find the right chemistry among his players.
When Mattias Janmark was placed on injured reserve on October 6, 2025, he was expected to miss one to two weeks, according to coach Kris Knoblauch's update on October 6, 2025.
As of mid-October, however, reports indicated a potential return around October 18 or 19. Yet, as of the Oilers' game on October 21 against Ottawa, Janmark remained on the injured list.

There has been reports of late, that once the injured players return to the lineup, a trade would be likely, in order to maintain a 23-man roster, with Mattias Janmark being mentioned as a possible trade candidate.
With him on the injured reserve and the Oilers not in need of an immediate roster spot, any move will likely be put on hold for now.
However, getting Walman and Hyman back in the lineup will certainly help the coach moving forward, as the lineup slowly returns to health.
